Preventing Government Fraud, Waste & Abuse with Blockchain

The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) Budget Accountability & Transparency Working Group is developing a landmark report titled “Preventing Government Fraud, Waste & Abuse with Blockchain.” This report explores how blockchain and related technologies can help governments strengthen transparency, accountability, and trust across budgeting, grants, procurement, records management, land titling, and more.
A key component of the report is a curated listing of resources and solutions provided by GBA members. These solutions are designed to help governments prevent fraud and misuse of funds, modernize financial oversight, and improve public trust.

The report will be formally released on October 30, 2025, at the United States Capitol during the Future of Money, Governance, and the Law conference. Following its release, it will be distributed to government employees in over 500 offices worldwide and showcased by the Dynamic Coalition on Blockchain Assurance & Standardization of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum.

Importantly, the report will direct government and industry executives to vetted blockchain and Web3 solutions available in the GBA Web3 Emerging Technology Directory.

We invite innovators, practitioners, and advocates to join the GBA Budget Accountability & Transparency Working Group to contribute expertise, highlight solutions, and play a role in shaping how blockchain can restore public trust and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse in government.

Here is how you can get involved:

  1. If you have a blockchain soluion that can help government prevent fraud, waste and abuse include it in the Web3 Emerging Technology Directory at no cost so governemt leaders can learn about the solutions available.
  2. Let others know about this project by sharing it with your professional colleagues.
  3. Attend the Future of Money, Governance, and the Law at the U.S. Capitol. Tickets are free for government employees and Government Blockchain Association (GBA) members.
  4. Join the Government Blockchain Association and then the Working Group to influence the content of the report and be listed as a contributor.
