GBA Food Supply Chain Working Group Update
The GBA thanks Matthew Nelson, for his leadership of the Food Supply Chain Working Group and the great progress made drafting the Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM) Food Supply Chain Supplement. We are sad to see him step down. But, he has assured us that he will remain involved as his bandwidth permits.
At the same time, we pleased that Armand Gaetan Ngueti has volunteered to take the baton as the new Chair of the GBA Food Supply Chain Working Group. Armand brings a wealth of expertise and a global perspective to this role. As CEO of UBTS Cameroon S.A. and the GBA Africa Lead, Armand is a recognized leader in digital innovation and blockchain application in the agricultural sector. His groundbreaking work in deploying UBTS Africa Agritech Digital Passport (UAA-DP), a blockchain-based product traceability systems has already demonstrated real-world impact, particularly in enhancing trust and transparency in Cameroon’s cassava supply chain. With Armand’s leadership, we are confident the Food Supply Chain Working Group will continue to thrive, expand its global reach, and deepen its technical impact.
The GBA Food Supply Chain Working Group addresses the unique challenges of tracking and verifying food products across complex, multi-jurisdictional supply chains. Blockchain technology holds extraordinary potential to:
- Improve traceability from farm to fork,
- Enhance food safety,
- Combat counterfeit and fraud in food markets,
- Strengthen consumer trust, and
- Support regulatory compliance.
By bringing together professionals, technologists, policymakers, and producers from around the world, this working group acts as a catalyst for conversation, collaboration, and innovation.
The Food Supply Chain Working Group meets every Tuesday at 2:00 PM (New York time). View the Food Supply Chain Calendar Event for meeting details and to get involved.
Let’s work together to enhance food safety, security, and transparency across the globe—powered by blockchain.
