Dear Mr. Moran,
On behalf of the entire GBA community, we thank you for your support and willingness to join us in the Government Blockchain Association’s panel discussion on the “Future of Money, Governance & the Law,” held at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business on March 30, 2019, where I, the Executive Director of GBA, moderated the first event in the series.
The panel provided the audience with a multi-dimensional perspective on how the adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology would impact governments at all levels around the world; while also highlighting our challenging journey toward creating innovative methods of governing. You have been and continue to be a great credit to government institutions and to your colleagues at the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery.
While every member of the panel brought deep and powerful insights to the discussion, I wanted to let you know how much our government and industry participants from around the world appreciated your contributions to the dialogue.
First, your profound understanding of the institutional resistance to change in government, along with your visionary and inspiring message to the next generation, was invaluable. The stories you shared about how past innovations were proposed, deployed, and then bought and buried illustrated many of the challenges faced by government technological pioneers.
At the same time, you challenged the next generation to find solutions using new technologies, methods, and paradigms. With a realistic understanding of the constraints, and a commitment to make progressive changes to improve our public institutions, I am confident that the citizens, innovators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, legislators, and executives of GBA will be instrumental in helping governments use blockchain technology to build a brighter future.
We appreciate your decades of service to Alexandria, Virginia and the United States.
Sincerely,
Gerard Dache
Executive Director
Government Blockchain Association
