Future of Money, Governance, and the Law Attendee Information
Greetings to all FoMGL attendees:
With less than 2 weeks until our event on Capitol Hill, I wanted to send out an update on what to expect, and what you will need to know.
Registration: If you know anyone that has not registered, they should do it now! Just go to the On-Site Registration or the GBA Virtual Expo Registration page. Please verify your name, title, and organization on the Public Attendee Listwe will be using this list to print name tags.
Location: The Future of Money, Governance, & the Law at the US Capitol will begin at 9 AM. Registration starts at 8:15. Â To get to the Capitol, your best options will be Uber or Metro. There is no parking near the Capitol. If using Metro, take the Blue Line, Orange Line, or Grey Line and exit at Capitol South. The actual address of the GBA event is First St NE & East Capitol St NE, Washington DC 20515.
Plan Your Conference: Review the Attendee List and plan who you want to connect with. We will provide the tools and resources to facilitate it. Sunday evening you will receive an invitation to join the GBA Conference Community App. After you receive the invitation, you can log in, identify your interests, and connect with other conference attendees that share your interests. Please do not create an account before Monday, January 27th or you receive an invitation to join. The App should be fully functional by then.
Pre-Conference Happy Hour – Join GBA members and guests for casual networking during happy hour the evening before Government Blockchain Association’s much anticipated The Future of Money, Governance, and the Law. Details are:
- Date: 01/30/2020
- Time: 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
- Hyatt Regency, Article One Lounge, 400 New Jersey Avenue Northwest, Washington, D.C. 20001
Schedule: Please review the FoMGL Event Schedule. One of our speakers had to cancel due to travel issues. That means we have one open panel slot available (requires sponsorship). If interested, please contact Gerard Dache.
Networking: Attendees will receive an invitation to join the GBA Conference Community. Invitations are being sent out the week of January 22. Once you receive your invitation, please complete your profile and connect with other conference attendees prior to the conference. This will give everyone an opportunity to connect, communicate and collaborate.
Reception/After-Party –Â Please join us at the Event Reception/Afterparty. This event is 15 minutes from the US Capitol. We have the entire floor of an upscale co-working space. The event includes a world-class dining experience, networking activities, and live music.Â
Dress: This is the US Capitol and not a crypto event. Suit and tie for men will be appropriate. Business dress for women. The weather outside will be cold.
Food: Coffee and Tea service will be provided during the breaks. There is also a full cafeteria in the building which will be open during the day until 4 PM. You may purchase lunch at the cafeteria. No outside food or drink will be allowed to come through security.
Entering the Capitol: You will need to bring a Government-issued ID to enter the building. Security will be similar to that of an airport, so give yourself enough time. Only those who are registered will be allowed to come into the event. All names must be on the registered list or people will be turned away. If you are registering your company, please enter each attendee individually by name or they will not be given access.
The Awards:Â Many nominations have come in for the 4 Annual Achievement Awards. All nominees will receive notice that they were nominated so they can prepare something to say if they win. Winners will be announced on the evening of January 31 at the FoMGL event Awards Ceremony.
Social Media and Photography: A professional photographer will be taking pictures throughout the day and evening. He will upload the pictures to the Event Photo Page. Please feel free to review the pictures and download any pictures you like. Also, please feel free to ask the photographer to take your picture. We may have an artist select some of the images for fine art paintings. More info on that later. Please feel free to use your own images or the ones provided on social media Please use the following tags #FoMGL #FoMGLDC @GBAglobal.
Come to the Reception Following the Event
Reception following event: GBA will be hosting an evening reception after the event. Tickets are available on the website here. This reception will be within easy walking distance from the Capitol, or if it is too cold to walk, one easy stop up the Metro. We will be serving food with drink tickets and a cash bar. Later in the evening, there will be live music in the larger room while smaller rooms and a rooftop will be open for quieter conversation. The view over the city is spectacular! The cost for the Evening Reception is $45 per person. Tickets are required for this event and ticket sales will cut off on Wednesday, January 29.

What’s Coming Next: On February 3, 4, & 5, the GBA will be teaching a Blockchain Foundations Class followed by a Blockchain Financial Specialist Class at the British Embassy in Washington DC. Details about this are described on the website. All future training classes are posted on the GBA Training Calendar.
I think that’s about it. Right now, we are working very diligently to make this event a spectacular success. As we said in a recent Press Release, this event may make Washington DC the new Davos.
Last, but not least – We Could Really Use Your Help
We are so unbelievably grateful for our event sponsors. Congressman Soto, Block.one, QBIX, and, eZ-XPO and all of the volunteers that have worked so hard to put this event together. Hosting a free event at the US Capitol for 450 global leaders requires a lot of time, effort and money. We have done the best we can with the resource we have. But, we could really use some help with the financial part.
Would you be willing to make a donation to the GBA to fund more events like this?
Please consider making a donation to the GBA our Payment Page.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you on the 31st,
