DHS Criminal Investigations & Network Analysis (CINA) Center Sponsors Blockchain & Crypto Symposium


The DHS Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis (CINA) Center has partnered with the GMU Schar School of Public Policy and Government and the Government Blockchain Association (GBA) to host a Symposium on the Future of Money, Governance and the Law.

The CINA Center is part of the prestigious network of DHS Centers of Excellence and is funded by the DHS Science and Technology Directorate’s Office of University Programs to bring together leading experts and researchers to pursue multidisciplinary approaches to address the disruption of criminal activities across the physical and cyberspaces. This Mason-led consortium advances science while pursuing the development of cutting-edge solutions and innovative educational and training activities to support today’s and tomorrow’s workforce.

Today, sophisticated criminals cross physical and cyber borders in their pursuit of illicit profit, devastating communities around the world, and wreaking havoc on societies and the environment. Criminals are using new methods and technologies like cryptocurrencies to launder money and traffic people, organs, and drugs.

New technologies like blockchain and their application to cryptocurrencies create both opportunities and challenges for law enforcement and national security authorities. That is why the CINA Center is participating in the GBA’s Fall Symposium on the Future of Money, Governance & the Law. We will be joined by approximately 300 public and private sector Symposium Participants including local, state, national and international thought-leaders.
