Public Working Group
The Campaign and Fundraising Accountability (“CFA”) working group will explore how blockchain technology can be used to increase transparency and accountability in the political and non-profit fundraising process. We will analyze and map out the entire lifecycle of a donation all the way from origination to use of funds. The group will not only serve as a forum to discuss these use cases, but also be actively engaged in building a blockchain enabled “smart” donation processing platform that allows organizations to receive donations in a way that is faster, cheaper and more transparent that the current model.
Topics to discuss as is relates to blockchain and donations:
· Transparency for use of funds (primarily via the distributed ledger)
· Reduced processing fees (primarily by eliminating needless intermediaries)
· Simplified/automated financial reporting and/or accounting
· The ability to safely and legally accept crypto currency donations
· The ability to accept donations regardless of currency (seamless currency conversion)
· Rewarding donors for making donations and other new incentive structures
· Deployment of donor capital via consensus
· Using smart contracts to implement “Conditional Giving” (meaning a donation can’t be used unless certain conditions are met)
· The ability for organizations to issue their own token for donation purposes
