GLOBAL BLOCKCHAIN ASSOCIATION: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SOFTWARE
WORKING GROUP
Dear Members of the GBA – Intellectual Property – Software Working Group,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. My name is Doug Liles, and I am a technology writer with a focus on intellectual property (IP) and emerging technologies. I am currently working on a white paper that aims to provide guidance and recommendations for the United States Patent Office (USPTO) regarding the challenges and opportunities in IP policy, specifically in relation to the creation and use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The purpose of this letter is to request your comments, insights, and recommendations on the aforementioned white paper, tentatively titled “Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property – A Policy Framework for the United States Patent Office.” The white paper will explore the unique challenges and legal implications of AI-created intellectual property, the role of blockchain technology in addressing these challenges, and propose a comprehensive policy framework for the USPTO to consider in its future rulemaking and enforcement endeavors.
The GBA’s expertise and thought leadership in the areas of blockchain technology, intellectual property, and software development are well known and highly respected in the industry. As such, your feedback and insights would be invaluable in ensuring that the white paper is well-informed, balanced, and comprehensive in addressing the myriad challenges and opportunities presented by the intersection of AI and IP.
I would be immensely grateful if you could designate a representative or a team from your organization to review the draft white paper and provide comments, suggestions, or insights. I am confident that your organization’s input will significantly contribute to the quality and impact of the final white paper.
Enclosed with this letter, please find the draft white paper, as well as a detailed outline of the proposed policy framework. I kindly request that you provide your comments and feedback by 4.7.23. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at doug@goodsam.ai or by phone at 850-225-9409.
Thank you for considering my request, and I eagerly await your valuable input. I am confident that, together, we can contribute to shaping a robust and forward-thinking intellectual property policy framework that fosters innovation and protects the rights of creators, users, and innovators in the age of artificial intelligence.
Sincerely,
Douglas Liles
