Emergency Management Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM) Supplement Draft Released
The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) has released the Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM) Emergency Management Supplement for public comment. Designed to enhance the trustworthiness and reliability of blockchain-based emergency management systems, the supplement provides a framework for evaluating and improving solutions that support government acquisition officials and solution providers alike.
The supplement, developed by the GBA Emergency Management Working Group led by Jordon Kestner, outlines comprehensive requirements for blockchain solutions, including emergency management planning, communication, asset management, situational awareness, deployment, and maintenance. These criteria ensure that blockchain solutions meet high standards for operational efficiency, transparency, and stakeholder accountability during emergencies.
“The release of this supplement highlights the many uses of blockchain in the public sector and is instrumental in establishing confidence by government employees that blockchain solutions can be trusted for the public good,” said Jordon Kestner, Emergency Management Working Group Leader.
“The BMM is the result of years of effort by industry experts across domains who studied both successful and failed blockchain projects. This refined set of characteristics provides government acquisition officials and solution providers with the tools they need to deliver trusted blockchain solutions,” added Gerard Dache, GBA Executive Director.
The BMM Emergency Management Supplement is now available on the GBA website, with an open invitation for public comments to refine and strengthen its impact. Government officials, solution developers, and industry leaders are encouraged to engage with the BMM to drive its adoption and improve customer confidence in blockchain solutions.
