1st Latin American Blockchain Solution Earns BMM Rating
Blocksite.mx’s SmartVote platform has officially achieved a Level One rating under the Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM), following a formal assessment conducted by the Government Blockchain Association (GBA). This recognition marks SmartVote as the first blockchain solution in Latin America to earn this distinction, positioning it among a select group of globally recognized, independently validated blockchain solutions.
Smart Vote is a blockchain-based digital voting platform developed by BlockSite, Inc., a Mexico-based technology provider specializing in secure and transparent systems for elections and citizen consultations. Designed as a Layer 1 private, permissioned blockchain, SmartVote incorporates distributed infrastructure, pseudonymous identity management, and multilayered security to uphold integrity, resilience, and data protection throughout the voting lifecycle.
The assessment, completed in late 2025, evaluated SmartVote across all eleven elements of the BMM, including governance, identity management, privacy, interoperability, and infrastructure sustainability. The review process conducted by a qualified team of technical, legal, and domain experts – relied on documented evidence, interviews, and solution artifacts to determine conformance with the model’s standards.
As a result of this achievement, SmartVote is now prominently listed in the GBA Web3 Emerging Technology Directory, a global resource that prioritizes blockchain solutions with verified BMM ratings. This placement increases the platform’s visibility among governments, enterprises, and procurement officials seeking trusted and standards-compliant blockchain technologies.
“This isn’t just a milestone – it’s a validation of our platform’s foundational trustworthiness,” said Raymundo Suárez, CEO and Lead Engineer at BlockSite. “The BMM provided us not only with a rigorous benchmark but also a clear roadmap for continuous improvement. We’re proud of this achievement and
are already working toward higher levels of maturity.”
The Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM), developed by the Government Blockchain Association, is a standards-based framework recognized by the Dynamic Coalition on Blockchain Assurance & Standardization of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum as the only known model for evaluating the quality and reliability of blockchain solutions. It is used by governments and institutions around the world to inform acquisition decisions and assess technical readiness, sustainability, and trustworthiness.
