GBA Working Group Updates
The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) continues to expand and refine the Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM) through the collaborative efforts of its global Working Groups. These initiatives reflect GBA’s commitment to advancing practical, standards-based blockchain adoption across government and industry.These efforts include:
- AI Working Group is actively developing the BMM AI Supplement, providing guidance on integrating artificial intelligence capabilities within blockchain-enabled ecosystems.
- Accounting – The GBA is preparing to launch a new initiative to evaluate the BMM from an accounting perspective, ensuring the framework incorporates robust accounting controls and aligns with financial reporting standards.
- The Supply Chain Working Group is making strong progress on the BMM Supply Chain Supplement, aimed at improving transparency, traceability, and efficiency in global supply chains.
- The Cybersecurity Working Group is currently exploring and validating security controls within the BMM and its associated supplements, reinforcing trust, resilience, and compliance across implementations.
- The Insurance Working Group is preparing to begin development of a BMM Supplement for insurance, addressing risk management, claims processing, and regulatory considerations unique to the sector.
- The Standards Working Group is preparing to launch BMM 2.0, along with the BMM Model for Services, marking a major milestone in the evolution of the framework and its applicability across service-based ecosystems.
New and Upcoming Initiatives
- GBA is also excited to announce the launch of a new Robotics / Autonomous Devices Working Group. This group will explore the intersection of blockchain with robotics and autonomous systems—an emerging field with significant implications for government and industry. We invite members and subject matter experts to join and help shape this important work.
These efforts represent a unique opportunity to collaborate with global leaders in blockchain, AI, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. GBA welcomes participation from government, industry, and academia.
