The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) and George Washington University (GWU) Collaborate to Advance Blockchain Workforce Education
The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) and George Washington University (GW), through its College of Professional Studies (CPS), are collaborating to develop specialized online education programs to prepare professionals for the rapidly evolving blockchain and digital asset economy. The collaboration combines GBA’s blockchain industry expertise, professional networks, and assessment frameworks with GW’s academic resources and experience in professional education. Together, the organizations will develop industry-aligned micro-credentials that provide government officials, financial professionals, and technology leaders with practical skills to evaluate, govern, and implement emerging technologies.
Three Initial Micro-Credential Programs
The collaboration will initially focus on three areas:
- Digital Asset Policy – Developing knowledge and competencies to understand the policy, governance, and regulatory considerations surrounding digital assets and their adoption.
- Blockchain Due Diligence – Strengthening professionals’ ability to evaluate blockchain technologies, assess risks, and make informed implementation decisions. GBA’s Blockchain Maturity Model (BMM) and related frameworks will help inform curriculum development.
- Asset Tokenization Due Diligence – Building competencies to evaluate tokenization initiatives, including their technological, operational, and governance considerations.
Combining Academic Excellence with Industry Expertise
The programs will be developed and delivered through GW RevU, the College of Professional Studies’ online education platform designed for working professionals. Together, the organizations aim to create engaging, competency-based learning experiences that connect academic instruction with real-world applications.
Preparing Professionals for the Digital Economy
As blockchain, digital assets, and tokenization become increasingly important to government and business operations, organizations need professionals who can evaluate these technologies and make informed decisions about their adoption. This collaboration seeks to address that need through accessible online micro-credentials focused on industry-relevant skills. The initiative also supports GBA’s broader mission of connecting government, industry, and academia to advance the responsible adoption of blockchain technologies.
Looking Ahead
Additional information about enrollment, program availability, and curriculum details will be announced as development progresses. By combining academic expertise with practical industry knowledge, GBA and The George Washington University aim to equip professionals with the skills needed to shape the future of blockchain and digital assets.
