June 18-19, 2021. Washington DC. The GBA will host a 2-day, virtual event.

Blockchain & Liberty for All

Blockchain technology does not discriminate between color, gender, age, nationality, or background (education). This new tech presents an opportunity for all who want to embrace it.

GBA headquarters will gather live in Washington DC to virtually present our annual state of the union. Chapter Leaders and Regional Leaders will be presenting from their locations. This event will be streamed online to all GBA chapters, members, and leaders, focusing on regional updates, showcasing the projects of 2020, and looking towards the coming decade. Our distinguished guest speaker will be Dr. Robert (Bob) J. Brown, the CEO & Founder of B&C International, a global business management consulting firm headquartered in High Point, NC. He is also the founder of the International BookSmart Foundation, a nonprofit that to date has shipped over 5 million books, countless teachers’ supplies and opened over 300 libraries on the continent of Africa.

Regional updates will be presented from GBA Africa, Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Europe, South America, the USA, Canada, and India.

Key topics on Saturday will include:

  • Blockchain, Trust, Transparency & Equality
  • Fair & Honest Elections
  • Journey to Freedom
  • Strategic Priorities
  • Technology, and the Token
  • Blockchain & Opportunities for All
  • Funding GBA Projects
  • Virtual Networking opportunities will be available throughout the two days

“Political freedom must be accompanied by economic freedom for people to be truly free. Blockchain Technology is a new frontier in the economic landscape.” -Gerard Dache, Executive Director, GBA

If people need economic freedom to truly be free, then they must have a pathway to achieve economic success. Blockchain technology provides a framework where trust and transparency can undergird financial institutions, election systems, and communication platforms. Blockchain can be the great equalizer between races, genders, economic status, and even educational levels. This technology can provide financial stability and restore public confidence in our institutions.

On the first day, June 18, regional leaders will give updates from their location. Chapter leaders are encouraged to weigh in on their status and happenings. Chapter Leaders, contact your regional leaders to schedule a presentation slot. 2020 has been an unusual year, but we have experienced a lot of growth, nevertheless. This day will highlight all that the GBA community has accomplished during a global pandemic. We have not been sitting still, and this is your time to shine.

The second day, June 19, is Juneteenth. In honor of Juneteenth, we will discuss the significance of this holiday, and what we can do to advance blockchain and liberty for all. GBA leaders will share takeaways from day 1, asking, “How can GBA impact the future?” We will go over operational planning for the next decade/5 years/2021. We will focus on decentralized, open-sourced platforms.

Topics for the day will include:

  • Strategic Priorities
  • GBA Technology
  • GBA Token
  • Programming
  • Government Blockchain Week
  • Grant Opportunities

We will have keynotes from Amelia Powers Gardner on Fair and Honest Elections, from Dr. Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes on Blockchain and Equal Opportunity, and from Eric Guthrie, Esq. on the Journey to Freedom. This is a day you will not want to miss as these exceptional individuals inspire you with the possibilities that lie within blockchain.

Working Groups and Chapter Leaders can present virtually what they have done and what they project for the next year. Please coordinate with your regional leads to book your time slot.

Parallel to this event, a Pitch Competition will be hosted in a separate, virtual room. To find out more about the Blockchain Pitch Competition, or to submit your pitch, go to Blockchain Demo Day Competition with Social Impact.
