Doug Miller is a systems entrepreneur with over a decade of clean energy industry experience. As Deputy Director of Market and Policy Innovation, Doug leads the Next Generation Carbon-Free Electricity Procurement Initiative. In this role, he develops energy customer solution requirements and industry guidance in collaboration with a diverse clean energy stakeholder community to activate new carbon-free procurement markets and enable energy customers to use their voluntary clean energy procurement to accelerate systemic grid decarbonization. Previously, Doug was the Global Markets Lead and one of the founding staff at nonprofit Energy Web, where he led strategic partnerships and market initiatives to accelerate energy sector decarbonization and digitization using open-source decentralized technologies. Before Energy Web, he was a Manager at nonprofit RMI, where he launched industry initiatives and built innovative business models to scale energy performance investments across commercial and residential buildings. Doug also co-founded Zero Labs, a clean energy technology startup. Doug holds a MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and BA in Philosophy, Politics, Economics (PPE) and Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania with top academic honors and awards from both institutions for his research focused on applying behavioral science to climate solutions.
