Group Description

The Budget, Accountability & Transparency (BAT) Working Group meets weekly to collaborate on advancing innovative solutions to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse in government systems.

This working group brings together government officials, industry experts, technologists, and policy leaders to explore how emerging technologies, particularly blockchain can modernize public sector financial management and strengthen trust in government operations. The activities of the group include:

Discuss current challenges in government budgeting, auditing, and oversight
Share insights on blockchain, smart contracts, and digital identity applications
Review ongoing initiatives, research, and pilot projects
Collaborate on frameworks, standards, and policy recommendations
Contribute to thought leadership, including reports and briefings for policymakers

The BAT Working Group plays a key role in developing practical, scalable approaches to improve transparency and accountability across federal, state, and local governments. Its work has contributed to high-level policy discussions, including efforts supporting national initiatives to combat fraud.
