Government Ontology Working Group

FORMING NOW
The purpose of this working group is to identify an information architecture to facilitate the integration and interoperability of blockchains across different levels and functions of governments. This group starts with the premise that all governments share common non-political functions including:
  • Auditing
  • Benefit Distribution
  • Compliance Monitoring
  • Contract Management
  • Economic Analysis
  • Environmental Analysis
  • Government Budgeting
  • Grant Management
  • Identity Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Law Enforcement
  • Licensing
  • Permitting
  • Tax collection
  • Voting

These functions require the collection, analysis, and distribution of vast amounts of data and information. However, there are redundancies and massive inefficiencies when collected by different government offices and at different levels of government. The purpose of this working group would be to establish an international ontological framework that defines the structure, content, and interfaces that could be used by government blockchains. The output of this working group would be the establishment and maintenance of information to be made publicly available to the global community.
